After 6 Months NFL Player Eric Berry Recover Hodgkin Lymphoma Cancer

Eric Berry Finishes  Lymphoma Treatment

Chiefs coach says Eric Berry has completed cancer treatments, waiting on results. Andy Reid: Eric Berry “doing well” after finishing cancer treatments. Kansas City Chiefs safety Eric Berry has completed another step in his battle with Hodgkin lymphoma. The former first-round pick has finished treatment for the disease that caused him to put his football career on hold last November.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Eric Berry’s recovery from Hodgkin lymphoma continues to go well.

“Eric is doing well,” Reid said Tuesday, the first day of organized team activities. “He’s going to get his big end-of-the-school (year) exam down here. He’s been through all the treatments, so now the doctor is going to sit down with him and go over exactly what the results of all that are.

“So we don’t have that, and Eric doesn’t have that quite yet, but everything up to this point has point has been very positive from the doctor and from Eric. So I think we’re heading in the right direction with that.”

In April, Evan Berry told Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star his brother's treatment was going well and he didn't "really see it affecting him."

The 26-year-old Berry had become one of the NFL's best, most feared safeties in five seasons with the Chiefs. He has made three Pro Bowls and was a first-team All-Pro in 2013 after recording 73 tackles, 10 passes defended and three interceptions with two returned for touchdowns.

Berry only appeared in six games last season before the Chiefs placed him on the non-football illness list in late November. He was the fifth overall pick by Kansas City in the 2010 draft and started 31 of a possible 32 games in 2012-13.
